Developing Greater Depth Writing throughout KS2 Aims: to clearly identify what greater depth writing looks like in Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6, during each term. to explore whole-school planning for progress across each year group and throughout the key phase. to moderate writing and plan sharp, next steps that are broken down enabling children to develop as greater depth writers. to develop drafting and editing strategies for greater depth writers. plan rich opportunities to develop greater depth writers within literacy lessons and across the curriculum. to Integrate the teaching of reading effectively with writing outcomes.  Throughout the day, you will: Moderate writing from Year 3 to Year 6 over an academic year and identify where pupils demonstrate they are working at greater depth.  Use assessment grids specifically tailored for each year group. Plan clear next steps for learning with progressive objectives. Closely analyse pieces of writing identifying for evidence of targets being met and how this developed writers working at greater depth. Look at examples of planning that are focused on how to develop writing through reading.  Explore how to use quality texts to develop greater depth writers.
