Woodturning Bowls and Platters Course

Looking to increase your knowledge of turning and design? The Bowls & Platters course has been designed to give woodturners a chance to build on turning techniques, with the focus on making bowls and platters. What you will learn Bowls and platters are a common place to start when you begin to turn. Our two day course has been designed to encompass the making of bowls and platters with a step-by-step guide. Within the process, you’ll cover tool use and techniques, lathe set up and speeds, sharpening, chucking systems, finishes and drying. In addition, your tutor will discuss and guide you on the correct selection and application of various finishes, as well as the sanding process. By the end of the course, you will aim to turn three to four bowls in a variety of timbers from exotic to native. What you’ll take home 2-3 turned bowls Certificate of attendance ‘How to’ – Course details Items you take home can change depending on the resources and materials available on the day. Additional information You will start your day with a welcome talk, including a hot drink, health and safety brief and a breakdown and review of the equipment you will be using. Some woodturning experience needed. The minimum age is 14 years old and anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an ***** for the duration of the course and must not be left unattended during class hours.
