Wild Life Drawing: Real Owls, Cass Sculpture Foundation, Saturday, 26. October 2019

Using live birds we will sketch species including the Bengal Eagle Owl, Great Horned Owl and UK natives; Tawny and Barn Owls. We will be introduced to these fine feathers with a talk from an expert local falconer and learn about their anatomy, unique characteristics and how they’ve evolved to use sound to pinpoint their prey from the air. Our animal handlers will be full of facts about where to spot these birds in the wild and their conservation. Owls are truly charismatic with their own personalities and we guarantee you'll go away with not only some great drawings, but a new found respect and admiration for these beautiful birds of prey. The drawing class is open to all, from beginners to advanced. All drawing materials are supplied, but please feel free to bring any other specific media you might like to use. Drawing tips and guidance will be provided throughout the session. The aim of these drawing classes is to inspire a sense of appreciation and understanding for the animals and their conservation in the wider world.
NB Please note you will not be able to pet the owls during the session.

About the workshop leader: Wild Life Drawing is a drawing class with a difference. Instead of human life models, our subjects are real animals. The classes intend to inspire a sense of appreciation and understanding for animals and conservation issues affecting them around the globe. Education is a primary focus, so as well as drawing the animals, the group learns about their habitat and diet, their lives in the wild and any conservation or animal welfare issues affecting that species.
Wild Life Drawing works only with the finest animal sanctuaries, charities and a small selection of trusted animal handlers to put on these events. All animals that attend the sessions are happy around humans and in different environments and are always accompanied by expert handlers, their welfare is our highest priority. Wild Life Drawing has worked to raise awareness and donations for charities including the RSPB, Battersea Dogs Home and the Sea Life Trust.
