Watering the Garden 2019/20 - Can anything good come out of Nazareth?, Douai Abbey, Tuesday, 25. February 2020

Can anything good come out of Nazareth?
Unconscious bias and the task of spiritual direction.
There were many who could neither see, nor welcome who Jesus was because their received attitudes and beliefs did not allow a prophet to be a carpenter’s son or come from a town like Nazareth.
What unconscious bias do we bring to the work of the spiritual direction?
How do we work with our negative attitudes as we become aware of them so that they do not get in the way of the Spirit’s work?
How do we accompany people through periods when their own received beliefs and attitudes begin to crumble in the **** of their experience?
What groups are largely absent from the work of spiritual direction, retreats and prayer workshops?
Why is this so? What can be done?

Drinks provided but please bring a packed lunch.
