Town Hall Book Talk - Stockport Town Hall, Stockport, Saturday, 23. March 2019

STORIES ABOUT BUILDINGS, PEOPLE AND POWER
Join us for a short talk and a tour of Stockport's wonderful "wedding cake" building with people who know and love the Town Hall.
Some of the country’s most beautiful civic buildings could be under threat following a decade of austerity. Town Hall – Buildings, People and Power highlights 32 of the country’s municipal town halls and civic centres in a series of stories told by local government experts and employees, politicians, architects and historians.
So many stories happen in the amazing, beautiful, ugly, impractical and sometimes contested buildings that are the civic heart of a community. Whether they’re grand Victorian edifices or brash 70s redbrick blocks, they occupy a unique position in the fabric of a place. This book -which features town halls from Manchester, Leeds, London City Hall, Bristol, Colchester, Todmorden, Stockport and more-  explores the past, present and possible futures – told by the people who work in them, care about them or understand the importance of significant buildings in towns and cities.
Town Hall author and editor Dawn Reeves will be joined for her Stockport Town Hall talk by special guests.
Limited capacity, book your tickets today!
