Tour of the National Library of Scotland (CIG Conference), National Library of Scotland, Tuesday, 04. September 2018

This year's Cataloguing & Indexing Conference takes place in Edinburgh on the 5-7th of September.  To coincide with the conference, CIG and CIG Scotland have organised visits to a number libraries in Edinburgh for conference delegates.  These will take place on the afternoon of the 4th of September, the day before the conference starts.  
Visit to the National Libary of Scotland, Tuesday 4th September
One of Europe’s major research libraries, the origins of the National Library of Scotland’s collections date from 1689 with the founding of the Advocates Library, the forerunner of the National Library and still a separate entity.  Today the National Library contains around 26 million physical items and millions more in digital format
The visit to the Library’s main building on George IV Bridge will include a guided tour of the building and introduction to the Library's history and collections, taking in the exhibitions, the General Reading Room, and a view of the closed stacks.  
Numbers are limited, so please book early to avoid disappointment.

Tours of the Library will start at 2pm and 4pm, and last around 50 minutes
Please report to main reception on arrival
Lockers are avaialble, and will require £1 coin (refunded)
