Summer '19 - Beginners Couch to 5K Course - Filton Sports Centre, Filton Sports & Leisure Centre, Wednesday, 24. July 2019

Are you pressed for time? Would you like to see a new, fitter you over the summer? Do you want to improve your health and well-being?
If this sounds like you, why not join us at the Filton -Elm Park ‘Couch to 5K’ beginners running course? Running is a really cheap and time efficient way of gaining fitness and maybe losing a little weight along the way. 
This ‘C25K’ course lasts 9 weeks and will take you from running for a minute followed by 1 ½ minutes walking (done eight times) in the first week. By week 9 you'll be running for 30 minutes and be able to complete a 5km parkrun by the end of the course. Can't believe it? Nor can 99% of the people who sign up. A fact we remind them of when they complete that 30-minute run.
What about the coaches on the course? Our run leaders are people just like you, who’ve grown to love running and want to share their passion. Lots of them got here by the same route and realise how important a super friendly sociable group is.

Our courses are priced at £10 – for those who do less than 30 minutes of exercise a week & £20 for everyone else. That starts at just over £1 a week. What’s more, we even give you a FREE technical running t-shirt when you complete the course! If you did one of our courses in the past and your running has lapsed for whatever reason, you’re welcome back, as long as it was more than 6 months since you finished your course.

I've already signed up for the FREE taster session here on the same day. Do I need to sign up again?
It depends! You can either go to the first session and confirm it's for you (we're confident it will be!) then sign up or you can sign up here for the full 9 week course in advance. The advantage of doing that is some of our courses do sell out, due to the ratio of coaches to participants, so that way it secures your place.  
Do I have to go to all the sessions?
We hope you make it to all the sessions, but it's not unusual for people to miss the odd one as they are late from work, on holiday or have another commitment. If you do miss a session that's fine, just do the session at your convenience with the help of our preferred app.
What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
There is parking on site and the area is serviced by the local bus route network. Abbey Wood railway station is a short walk away.  
Do I just run once a week?
The coached session is once a week, but you'll need to do two other runs, which are pretty similar, over the course of seven days. Lots of our participants meet up to do these together, as well as enjoying a cheeky coffee afterwards (!) and make friendships out of it as an added bonus!
