COURSE OUTLINE / DESCRIPTION
The Site   Management Safety Training Scheme – refresher (SMSTS-R) course is for   delegates who have previously passed the full site management Safety Training   Scheme (SMSTS) course or subsequent refresher course, and can provide proof   of evidence.
It aims to bring   health and safety knowledge up to date, as well as giving a through overview of the legislative changes and their impact in the workplace. This course   includes a wide range of topics, many building on the previous five-day   course programme.
The SMSTS course is endorsed by Build UK as the standard training for all construction managers.
YOU WILL HAVE AN UNDERSTANDING OF:


Improving awareness of recent developments in construction, legislation, and health,   safety, welfare and environmental issues


Identifying  measures that will assist the practical implementation of responsibilities   established by new legislation, and new working practices


Implementing   all updated health, safety welfare and environmental legislation which   affects them in their role as a manager


New guidance and industry best practice


Their duties and responsibilities with regards to health, safety, welfare and the   environment


 This is a 2day course and delegates are expected to complete the full course to be eligible   for certification.
Certification for   this course is valid for 5 years. To remain certified in this area, you will   need to retake the course before the expiry date. Assessment will be by an exam paper at the   end of the course. Delegates will be expected to complete the full 5 days and   actively participate during the course, to achieve the necessary learning   objectives to qualify for the certificate.
The CITB   Attendance Grant for this course will be paid directly by the CITB, delegates   will be required to provide the National   Insurance numbers and Company CITB   Registration number when they register onto the course on the first day   and this information will be submitted to the CITB on completion of the   course.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
You will need to   complete a course notification form, a minimum of 5 working days before the   course is delivered. Delegates should hold or about to hold the position of   manager. All courses must be delivered in English. Learners must therefore   have an appropriate level of understanding of the English language before   their qualification commences and at the level they are operating.   Interpreters and translators are not acceptable for any part of the course   qualification or examination. Delegates must be competent in English at site   manager level. The refresher course is only for delegates who have previously   passed the 5-day construction Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS)   or subsequent refresher course and hold a valid SMSTS certificate
Special Considerations and Reasonable Adjustments
Delegates need   ensure that they notify AeroAcademy   prior to course commencement of   any special requirements that they may have such as: physical disabilities   including: sight, hearing or writing or learning or reading difficulties   (dyslexia), so that separate arrangements can be made
