Short Course: Introduction Polychaete Worms, The Marine Biological Association, Saturday, 13. June 2020

Come and join us in Plymouth for a fascinating hands-on introduction to Polychaetes!
Course Description: A basic introduction to some of the most common polychaete families found in British waters. We will discuss the ecology of polychaetes and their role in benthic diversity assessments. The course will also include an explanation of key identification methods, explain the possible pitfalls of working with scientific keys and explore the making of basic DIY “keys” to suit your own specific needs. Through interactive lectures, demonstrations and laboratory sessions, participants will become familiar with some common families and learn how to identify polychaetes to family level using key characteristics.
Course Tutor: Scott Gudrich – Marine Biologist at Thomson Ecological Consultants. Scott works in benthic diversity assessment and spends over 30 hours a week looking at polychaetes. He also has more than 10 years of experience teaching and is passionately enthusiastic about sharing his knowledge.
Who should attend? This course is aimed for those interested in polychaetes at beginner - intermediate level. No previous knowledge is required. Students of Marine Biology will not only get a basic introduction to some of the most common polychaetes in British waters but also gain insight into work in a commercial benthic laboratory.

Refund Policy: Cancelations received 10 days or more before the event will be refunded in full. Cancelations after this time will be refunded if the place on the course can be filled, otherwise the following will apply: 10 - 5 days before the event will recieve a 50% refund on the total course cost and cancelations received within five days of the event will not automatically be entitled to a refund.
