The Presenter
Stephen Walker has been fascinated by ‘why people work’ since 1978!
Changing from an engineering to an operations career path, he brings an engineering approach to people management - how does this work and how do you make it better?
He completed a Masters in Management while working as ‘The Operations Guy’. The dissertation used data from the Operation in a unique piece of numerate Social Science research.
In 2004, Motivation Matters was launched to bring the benefits of more effective Operational Management to a wider world.
Client feedback
All good stuff, but certain parts really resonated for me. Very useful and I have already put some of your suggestions into practice - Leisure Industry Business Owner
I came along to the session to help me develop my own knowledge and to provoke some thinking about how I can apply what we discussed in my role / business. You managed to fulfill both these things; your presentation was engaging and the content useful - Head of Operational Excellence

I found the workshop very useful, as it served as a good refresher and made me go away and polish up on a few things. - Manufacturing Director
I would like to thank you for the difference you have made to our management team. As you know we strive for business excellence and continuous improvement and was not sure what the next step for developing our management team was, but there is no doubt that we found it with you. Our team is now completely re-focused and have new objectives, competencies and skills which they all use on a daily basis. The delivery and support throughout the training and beyond has been first class and am sure your passion and ownership made all the difference to the training being a success. You have made an incredible impact and have been a pleasure to work with as nothing has been too much trouble. I hope very much, we can work together again in the near future and wish you every success with Motivation Matters! - Operations Director, Manufacturer

The course that you ran was good and it had some good points which made people think about their daily job role. I have also discussed your comments with those that attended the course. - Education Establishment, Conference and Catering Manager
Excellent thoughts on closed thinking. I particularly liked the comment on Russian advice to the Egyptians! - Owner, Financial Advisors
The day was very well prepared with an excellent mixture of talk and listen sessions. There were a variety of activities throughout the day which added to the learning experience and the fun; the students were given the chance to put the theory into practice. They gained much from the day and have been able to use the new skills learnt in a number of projects. I do believe that it has made a difference to the way they have worked on task together. - Education Establishment Principal
A fantastic learning experience for me. So, impressed I invited Motivation Matters to speak at our own annual congress. - President, Animal Medicine Association
