10 Week Pattern Cutting for Beginners (Jan 2019)
By the end of the course you will develop basic skills and knowledge in flat pattern manipulation and garment production methods through a planned range of practical samples. Developing key elements of manipulation (darts, panel seams, gathers, flare). You will produce a technical folder to collate skills and knowledge gained during the Course.

Entry Requirements
None, although basic sewing experience would be an advantage.

Materials and Equipment
Demonstration or materials for experimentation will be provided free of charge but you may be required to purchase your own materials in order to complete your personal creative projects.
You will need to bring pencils (preferably a technical pencil), ruler or Patternmaster, eraser, scissors (paper and fabric), dressmaking pins, tape measure, masking tape, Pritt Stick, coloured fineliner pens, highlighter pens and A4 folder for handouts. Students may find it useful to bring an A3 or A2 portfolio case in which to put their pattern pieces, to keep them flat. Pattern Masters are around £15 and technical pencils £2- £5 - both are available from the College Shop. Calico is around £1.80/m, available from your Pattern Cutting tutor.

Please note that all courses are subject to student numbers and will only run if sufficient numbers are achieved. Plymouth College of Art reserves the right to cancel a course if insufficient student numbers are recruited.
