Come and explore the world of Fashion Design and Styling within a creative and experimental environment  within this 10 week introductory course. 

This course is for anyone who would like to gain an understanding of the research and design processes that are needed to become a budding fashion designer, from the initial research stages to the final styling of the end product. 

Subjects Explored: Trend Forecasting, Mood/concept Boards, Life Drawing, Fashion Illustration, Sublimation or Screen Print, Photoshop, Illustrator, Styling, Studio Photography.

Course Content

Week 1-2
Delve into the world of fashion and trend forecasting websites such as WGSN to analyse and create trend, colour and inspiration mood boards that will inspire and evolve into the design process.

Week 3-4
Life drawing along with learning about the proportion of the body ready to 
Explore unique and unconventional ways in how to create disruptive fashion illustrations.

Week 5-6
T-shirt design is just one of the many essential skills in fashion design. We will work to create a piece of artwork using photoshop, illustrator and other design techniques ready to sublimate or screen print onto our t-shirts to create our own individual looks. 

Week 7-8
Looking at different ways to style fashion forward looks and using your creativity to construct three different looks to professionally photoshoot ready to create a mini portfolio. 

Week 9-10
Bringing together the fashion illustrations, Mood and concept boards along with the professional photographs from the styling shoot we will work on using different techniques to put together a professional mini portfolio. 

Entry Requirements

None, beginners welcome.

Materials and Equipment

Demonstration or materials for experimentation will be provided free of charge but you may be required to purchase your own materials in order to complete your personal creative projects. Any additional tools or equipment will be discussed with you by your tutor upon enrollment.
Please note that all courses are subject to student numbers and will only run if sufficient numbers are achieved. Plymouth College of Art reserves the right to cancel a course if insufficient student numbers are recruited.
