Our Stolen Heritage: A Tasting of Historic Pot Still New Make, Urban Brewing, Thursday, 11. April 2019

Most distilleries don't let people taste thier new make. Blackwater is not most distilleries.
Taking inspiration from historic mash bills, since December we have been distilling what was known as Pot Still Irish whisky. However due to the 2014 Technical File, when ****** this whisky cannot be called Pot Still Irish whisky. Our heritage has been stolen and frankly we are pissed as ****.
So what sort of new make spirit did these mash bills produce? That's where you come in. We don't want to live in a bubble, so you'll be tasting and giving your opinion on new make from mash bills which date between 1838 and 2014, making this the most comprehensive attempt yet at understanding the category.
Peter Mulryan will set out our stall, Fionnan O'Connor will introduce each mash bill while Head Distiller John Wilcox will lead the tasting. This might well be a one off, never to be repeated event. Then again it might not.
