Open Awards Standardisation 2018/19 - Birmingham, Solihull Women's Institute, Tuesday, 02. April 2019

A programme  of standardisation events will be held throughout the 2018/19 academic year at various locations across the country, including: Liverpool, Birmingham, London, Doncaster, Penrith and Portsmouth. (See Open Awards website for details.).
The aims of a standardisation event are:

To assist centres to improve their practice through peer review and feedback
To enable Open Awards to gain an overview of practice in centres, and identify areas for improvement
To contribute to the continuing professional development of Authorised Internal Verifiers

This year there will be a combination of whole day events (10.00am to 3.00pm, with lunch provided) and half days (9.30am to 12.30pm, without lunch).  Both will include the usual opportunity to share your learner work with other centres, but the whole day events will also include a workshop on Assignment design.  As part of this activity, we would like to invite you to bring along a Unit you would like some support with in thinking about assessment activities, to share in a workshop session.  This is not a requirement, but an opportunity for you to get some helpful feedback.  (If you do not have learner work to share, or do not wish to bring a Unit, you will still be able to benefit from attending the session.)
The Standardisation event is  appropriate for anyone involved in the delivery, marking, assessment or internal verification of Open Awards qualifications, who is able to bring samples of assessed work from their centre.  The event is strongly recommended for centres which do not currently have AIV status but would like to be considered for this in future.
 PLEASE NOTE:

It is mandatory for centres with Direct Claims Status to have at least one  AIV attend a standardisation event during the academic year.  If not, AIV status will be suspended, and will need to be re-applied for.
Centres may be charged for late cancelation (less than 2 working days before event) or non-attendance.
