Shoot Air Rifle and Live For Ever!
Can this be true?
Previous research on a small group of Air Rifle shooters suggests that participation in this shooting discipline has very positive effects on the brain. You might not actually live for ever, but your brain could go on functioning at a high level into old age. So we are inviting you to come along during the BOAG meeting and lend us your brain for 30 to 40 minutes.
What do I have to do?
Before the event you need to:

Download and read the INFORMATION LEAFLET. This outlines your rights as a volunteer. Keep a copy for yourself.

Download and complete the CONSENT FORM and bring it with you on the day

Download and complete a PERSONAL INFORMATION form and bring it with you on the day

Select a time slot during the weekend when you can slip away from shooting and meet up with the research team.

This small amount of preparation will make your session easy and speedy on the day.
On the day of your research session you will need to:

Complete 3 short questionnaires – takes about 10 minutes. These will measure aspects of introversion/extraversion and psychological resilience.

Take part in a computerised memory concentration test, a bit like a computer game.

 Exclusions!
Please don’t apply if you play bridge or chess or dance the Argentinian Tango. Surprisingly, this could skew the results.
Please don’t apply if you are under 18, as we’re still not licensed for younger shooters.
Please don’t apply this time if you are a pistol shooter (although we’re sure you are geniuses too!)
Please don’t apply if you have already taken part in any of the previous research as we still have your results.

Please come and take part, (at any level of the sport, but especially if you are a top shot) – it’s important for the future of our sport!
Thank you
