Mindful Stitching workshop, The Creative Space, Tuesday, 12. March 2019

"Lauri is an excellent facilitator, extremely knowledgeable, creating just the right atmosphere for the day"
“Thank you Lauri for your time and guidance. It was a pleasure.”
A day of mindful stitching; give yourself permission to relax and pursue something you enjoy, or try something new.
Mindful Stitching workshop
The day will involve a playful exploration of hand embroidery, supported by mindful practices, as a different way to be mindful. On this day we will work with inchies or twinchies - sewing onto pieces of fabric or paper that are one or two inches square. This non-threatening size allows you to approach the day with a sense of playfulness and curiosity. Together we can explore various possibilities involving hand embroidery or stitching, before giving yourself time to develop your own ideas, which may focus on one inchie, or include several.
All materials are provided, however, if you have some lovely fabrics, threads or paper to use please bring them with you.
Schedule
The day will follow a simple schedule of playful stitching and creating inchies, supported by reminders to be mindful as you sew. The day will be punctuated with refreshment breaks and a lunch break. Please bring your own lunch as this is not provided. The aim of the day is to be mindful within a gentle activity. If you have a finished project to take home this is a bonus!
We will follow roughly this schedule, but can adjust timings slightly to suit ourselves on the day.
10.00 – welcome, settle & introductions 10.30 – playful stitching 11.30 – refreshments 12.00 – mindful sewing 13.00 – lunch break (please bring your own food) 14.00 – mindful sewing 15.00 – refreshments 15.30 – mindful sewing 16.45 – sharing & close 17.00 - depart

Who Can Attend
This session is suitable for beginners to mindfulness and sewing as well as the more experienced in either area. I invite everyone to put aside their previous knowledge and experience (or lack of it!) and engage a Beginner’s Mind.
