Mental Health Awareness, Lewis Silken, Healthy Hub, Thursday, 17. October 2019

This day course aims to raise awareness and understanding of mental health difficulties; including the causes, symptoms and presentations for a range of common and less-common mental health problems and how you can support people who have mental health difficulties within the workplace or in every day life.

By the end of this course delegates will be able to:
- Define ‘mental health’ and recognise the signs and symptoms of mental health difficulties.
- Demonstrate a knowledge of stress; how it presents and recognise when stress becomes a problem.
- Recognise the difference between mental wellbeing and mental health difficulties and identify what can lead to poor mental wellbeing.
- Explore the ways in which people can build their own positive wellbeing and how to promote positive mental health.
- Enhance listening skills, and an understanding of other techniques that can be used to support others on a peer-to-peer basis.
- Identify support that is available nationally and locally and understand how to access support when needed.
