Meet by the Book, Frome Town Hall, Thursday, 26. September 2019

Hunting Raven Books is hosting a free party for people in Frome – particularly younger people and those of working age – who may be feeling lonely or disconnected.
Loneliness has been described as the 'scourge of modern society' but when we think of loneliness our minds often conjure up the image of somebody elderly who, on account of age or bereavement, is isolated or on their own.
It is this stereotype which can make loneliness all the more difficult for younger people to recognise and admit to – especially when they feel they should be (to quote that most-annoying cliché) ‘living their best life’.
Moving to a new town, working from home, becoming a parent, living with a mental or physical illness, or simply not having found where you ‘fit’ can all trigger profound feelings of loneliness. We would like to invite anyone who feels this describes them to come along and enjoy a warm and friendly evening of books and more...
To help take the agony out of the small talk (eurgh!) we are asking everyone to bring along a book as a conversation starter. It could be a book you love, a book you hate, a childhood favourite, or simply what you are reading at the moment. The main thing is that everyone can come armed with something they can have a conversation about – and we can all avoid that dreaded question: ‘So, what do you do?’”
There will be music, talks, food and information about some of the ways you can meet people and become more involved in the fabric of Frome life.
Tickets are free but must be booked as places are limited. Please note, there is no parking at the venue (except for Blue badge holders) and only limited on-street parking. If you are coming by car, please park in one of the many car parks in town (free after 6pm) and enjoy the short walk to the Town Hall.
This event would not be possible without the kind support of Frome Town Council and the publisher Pan Macmillan.
