On 1st July 1920 the controversial actress Molly May was handed the opportunity of a lifetime; to appear in a new high-budget West End musical 'The Lady of the Rose'. However the big night did not go to plan. Plagued by equipment failures, fluffed lines, and mishaps, the night was a disaster and her big moment had been ruined. Worse still, as she stormed out of the venue, she appeared to trip and fell down the grand staircase, but insisted that she had been pushed.
Was she pushed by a jealous co-star? Was she the victim of a bitter love rival? Or did she simply stumble?
