Local Industrial Strategies:
What works in upgrading infrastructure to boost local economic growth
As LEPs and local authorities continue to think through and develop their local industrial strategies, we are working with the Cities and Local Growth Unit to build on our series of events last year by hosting four workshops on ‘what works’ for local interventions. The workshops themes are based on the Industrial Strategy’s ‘foundations of productivity’: People, Ideas, Business Environment and Infrastructure – with a focus on the importance of places.
The final event, to be held in Coventry on 26 April, will explore what the evidence shows is effective in improving infrastructure to support economic growth. It will then discuss how the objectives and design of a local industrial strategy can most effectively support infrastructure improvements, and benefit the wider local economy.
The workshop will build on our programme of work on Local Industrial Strategies, and our 10 principles for their design. It will be an opportunity for any local area interested in improving local infrastructure as part of their strategy to understand what works better, and hear tips on how to evaluate the impact of these types of policies. It will feature contributions from our Director, Henry Overman, as well as officials from across Government.
Register now to avoid disappointment
