Lino Cut for Beginners

Explore and investigate the creative and rewarding artistic skills of lino cutting with artist and experienced teacher Catherine Carmyllie. Suitable for beginners. ***To avoid a booking fee and pay by card, cheque or cash, please contact dot-art Services directly on 0345 017 6660*** Saturday 2nd November 2019, 11:30am – 5pm (£50 for 1 day) Program This beginners workshop will introduce you to the materials and tools of lino cutting before moving onto creating, cutting and printing your own design. No previous experience is requires, you will be inspired by lots of examples and ideas. Catherine will show you how to approach mark making to create depth, texture and tone along with best practice for printing. Students will learn mono printing techniques as a background on which to print as an alternative to plain white. There will be demonstrations, an easy 1 colour ‘trial’ exercise before students embark on a larger scale multicolour print series. Students will have the choice to print onto A4 professional print quality paper, greetings cards and cotton fabric. This workshop is suitable for ages 16 and upwards due to sharp cutting tools.  Tutor:  Catherine Carmyllie is a Liverpool based Artist currently working across painting and textile art. She completed a Textile Art degree at Huddersfield University before spending 6 months at The Arts and Crafts Academy of Kuopio, Finland where she had the opportunity to learn ancient Scandinavian skills such as bookbinding, weaving, feltmaking amongst others. Catherine regularly teaches workshops. Materials All materials are provided but attendees are welcome to bring their own materials and equipment that they wish to experiment with if they prefer (pillowcases, canvas tote bags, napkins, larger papers, wood base, etc).  Notes There are a maximum of 15 places available on the course, so early booking is essential. Cancellations / Refunds Once you have made your course booking your are committed to it. This is because our courses have very small student numbers, and often sell-out and are unavailable to others. Therefore any cancellations may result in a place not being filled, or a course not being able to run. Cancellations are permitted up to 30 days before the start of a course, and a full refund will be issued. Refunds will not be made for cancellations less than 30 days before the start of a course. If you are unable to attend due to illness, personal or professional commitments you do not have the right to a refund.
