Complete your Level 2 Award for Forest School Assistants qualification with Surrey Wildlife Trust.  This training course is a nationally recognised qualification, accredited by Open College Network West Midlands (OCNWM) and recognised by The Institute for Outdoor Learning.  
This course is designed to qualify the learner to become a Forest School Assistant, enabling you to take a proactive role in helping a Forest School Leader plan and deliver a Forest School programme and supporting the learners.
The course dates (4 days) are : Thursday 17th & Friday 18th October and Thursday 14th & Friday 15th November 2019.  The course day will be run from 9.30am to 4.30pm daily.
Our Level 2 course will cover the following;
✓ 4 day training course covering the OCNWM units.
✓ Planning for and running your Forest School.
✓ Risk Assessment, background to forest schools
✓ Practical skills and woodland management, including fire lighting, tool use, games and activities, identification and use of woodland resources.
✓ To complete a workbook alongside receiving advice/guidance and assessment from our Tutors.
✓ Attend optional mentoring days – run as a drop in session each month, this an opportunity to ask our Tutors questions, receive advice and work on your portfolio.
Booking on this course is essential, the total course fee is £490.00. We require a £100 deposit to confirm a place on the course along with a completed booking form.

Course requirements :


Participants should be over 18 years old and have some experience of working with young people or adults, for example youth workers, teachers or teaching assistants.


All participants must be DBS checked.


Participants must be able to assist with 3 forest school sessions


Commitments (approx 60 hours).


4 day initial theory and practice.


Assisting with planning and delivery of 3 forest school sessions.


Completion of a workbook of evidence.


The course normally takes participants six months to complete.
