Let's Talk About Race: The Future Is Mixed, The Mezzanine (The Market Place), Monday, 07. October 2019

LET'S TALK ABOUT RACE

is a student discussion group where we talk about race / racism.
Each is themed; this is the first discussion and it's on "mixed-race" / "mixed-heritage" - a demographic that often gets sidelined in the discussions about race and racism in this country.
Mixed-race looks like Akala and Thandie Newton but it's also Stephen Graham, Meghan Markle and Barack Obama; what does it mean to be mixed? What does it mean to be dual-heritage or biracial?
Led by Northampton's Esther Stimpson, we will be exploring cultural identity in the lives of those that are mixed-race in Britain today. What does it mean to be both?
All are welcome, but this is aimed at University of Northampton students.
