Leisure Learning: DJ Techniques and Performance, Suffolk New College, Tuesday, 24. September 2019

Learn how to operate industry standard DJ controllers and software to competently mix, create loops and add effects to build a song library. These techniques will be used in a real performance at the end of the course.
During the course you will learn the following:

 Setting up DJ controller and software.
 How to find and listen to tracks.
 Examples of top DJs in their field (turntablists, scratchers, genre specific DJs etc.                  
How to add effects and create loops.
Begin building own library of songs for repertoire
The construct of a beat mix.                
Gig prep: what equipment and back-ups are needed for a real gig.
Basic scratching techniques.
Recce of a real venue
Finalising DJs repertoire – consider how to react to a changing audio             
Live event practice (probably Atrium)
Evaluation and reflection: look back on videoed performances
Organise Live performance

Timings: 5:30 - 7:30pm
Entry Requirements: None
Duration: 9 weeks / 2 hours per session
