Launch of the North East and North Cumbria ******* Prevention Network, The Magpie Club, St James' Park, Tuesday, 10. September 2019

The North East and North Cumbria ******* Prevention Network
Overall, national ******* rates are reducing slowly, however remain too high and are highest in the North of England.
******* is known to be a higher risk in some groups of people, and it is the leading cause of death in males aged 20-49. Self-harm is a known risk factor for ******* and is particularly high in younger age groups and women.
The impact of ******* on individuals and communities is significant and there is an increased risk of ******* in families of people who die by *******.
Based on evidence of how best to prevent ******* and promote wellbeing and resilience, the purpose of the North East and North Cumbria ******* Prevention Network is for organisations, communities, and individuals to work together to take action to reduce *******, so that fewer people die by ******* and we improve support for those affected.
Our regional multi-agency collaborative is intended to support local ******* prevention planning and improvement activity, with the aim of helping reduce incidence of ******* and self-harm, along with the impact and stigma that can be associated with it.
The North East and North Cumbria ******* Prevention Network consists of different agencies from various sectors, along with people with lived experience of self-harm and *******, working together as part of the North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care System (ICS). The ICS framework aims to transform the way services are delivered to people across the North East and North Cumbria, supporting the provision of a more integrated approach to health and social care.
The Launch Event
Our Network launch event, taking place on World ******* Prevention Day, will provide an informal networking and marketplace session in the early afternoon, followed by a stimulating programme of speakers. It will offer an opportunity to learn about the successful work already being done to reduce ******* across the region and the future plans of the Network to save even more lives. Refreshments will be served throughout and a hot buffet will be served from 6pm.
Guests are welcome to register for either the early afternoon networking session from 1pm-3.30pm, the late afternoon speakers' session from 3.30pm-7pm, or for the whole event - this will enable as many people as possible to attend either portion of the day and help us manage numbers for refreshments. Please only register a place for the time you would like to attend, thank you.
We look forward to seeing you at the event - anyone with an interest in ******* prevention is welcome to attend so please pass on the invitation to friends and colleagues.
