Graphic Novels, Real Life Stories - Intermediate with Ottilie Hainsworth (Jan - March 2020), Phoenix Art Space, Monday, 20. January 2020

Suitable for those who have some drawing experience or have attended the introductory course. Inspired by graphic novels, visual diaries and reportage we will work alternately on location in interesting places around Brighton, and in the studio. Using a sketchbook you will be guided through weekly drawing and writing tasks including ‘randomising’, gathering visual research and sketching from life. Back in the studio, you will learn ways of developing this material into your own visual storytelling, and will produce a vibrant diary.
Basic materials including a sketchbook will be provided, but students are encouraged to bring additional art materials if they wish.

Ottilie Hainsworth graduated from Glasgow School of Art and gained an MA RCA in illustration in 1994. She has taught drawing in various forms to adults and children for many years in different places including Evolution Arts, Glasgow School of Art and Phoenix Brighton. She enjoys creating comics about her every day life, and her work is included in "Brighton-The Graphic Novel". Ottilie's first graphic novel "Talking to Gina" was published by Myriad Editions in September 2017.
