Public lecture by Gerda Verburg entitled 'Ensuring women are on the front-line of decision-making'
This event is organised by the Grantham Centre for Sustainable Futures at the University of Sheffield and is very kindly hosted by DLA Piper UK LLP, at their offices at 1 St Paul's Place, Sheffield, S1 2JX.
Teresa Hitchcock, a Partner, and Head of Safety, Health & Environment at DLA Piper, as well as being a member of the Grantham Centre Board, will deliver a welcome and introduction. The lecture will then commence at 1815 hours and is preceded by a drinks reception from 1730 hours, kindly provided by DLA Piper UK LLP. The event will conclude by 2000 hours.
Admission is by ticket only.

Gerda Verburg from the Netherlands was appointed the Coordinator of the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement by the UN Secretary-General in August 2016. She has extensive and broad experience from the fields of politics and international cooperation. Following her appointment as Minister of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality of the Netherlands in 2007, she was in 2008 elected as Chair of the UN Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD 17). From 2011, she served as Permanent Representative of the Netherlands to the UN Organizations for Food and Agriculture in Rome (FAO, WFP and IFAD). In 2013, she was elected as Chair of the UN Committee on World Food Security (CFS). In 2014 she was appointed as Chair of the Agenda Council for Food & Nutrition of the World Economic Forum (WEF).
