Feltham Early Years Network (Session 1): What Children's Bodies Need w/ Jabadao, Reach Academy, Tuesday, 12. November 2019

What Children's Bodies Need
Speaker: Penny Greenland MBE
Arrival and Refreshments: 15:30 - 15:45
Please wear comfortable clothing for moving e.g. trousers or leggings.
This session takes a fresh look at the movement experience babies and young children need to support their development and learning - and a lifetime of physical comfort and confidence. In a child-led and play-based approach, we will look at how to set up an indoor Movement Play Area to focus all aspects of physical development - functional to expressive. We will particularly focus on ways that movement play can support children with developmental challenges.
Penny is Director of JABADAO and has spent thirty years researching and developing work alongside the early years sector. Between 1998 and 2009 she led a research project that culminated in the creation of the Developmental Movement Play approach. She has contributed to several books on physical development in the early years and is author of Hopping Home Backwards; body intelligent and movement play. She is also a dancer and theatre practitioner.
