Ethical Consumption and Avoiding Greenwash
Many of us know how damaging our consumer habits are to the planet and to other people around the world, including in the global south. With companies applying labels like 'green', 'ethical', 'sustainable' and so on to their products and services, it can be really hard to discern fact from fiction, and ethics from greenwash...
Join us at this event which will help shed light on ethical consumption from both a market-wide strategic perspective, as well as a practical focus on real world stuff we buy - from jeans to mortgages, and from palm oil products to supermarkets. This event will be relevant for you whether you are thinking about your own consumption, or influencing others', as well as thinking about company purchasing and supply.
As ever there will be the space and opportunity to network and share experiences with colleagues in the wider sustainability community. There will also be the opportunity for delegates to update the group on news and events.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Joining us as our speaker for this event is:

Joanna Long - Director at Ethical Consumer Research Association, Director of Fair Tax Mark
Joanna is a highly experienced researcher in the field of ethical consumption and has a wide range of knowledge of both trends in the changing ethical market and specific expertise in sectors from fashion to finance. Joanna also has a PhD in Geography.
Ethical Consumer are an independent, not-for-profit, multi-stakeholder co-operative with open membership, founded in 1989 and based in Manchester. For over 25 years they have been championing the ethical consumer movement, helping consumers to shop ethically, campaigning to challenge corporate power and businesses to improve their supply chain. Their mission is to make global businesses more sustainable through consumer pressure.
