Eco Print your Scottish leaves week end, The Lansdowne House of Stencils, Saturday, 12. October 2019

Eco Printing is the natural technique of printing by direct contact botanical material and cloth or paper.
During this week end you will learn the basic and practise Eco printing on cellulose fibers that is paper, cotton, linen and jute and protein fibers that is Silk and Wool. We will use some local Scottish leaves for that purpose. We will add to the Eco Printing process some basic Natural dyes such as Onion Skinns, Budleah, etc...
July is a magical month for Eco Printing as the leaves at at their best ....
You will be using both the steaming process and the boiling process and produce to produce both prints on paper and cloth. The first day will cover the basics, preparing the cloth through scouring and mordanting... making prints... on the second day we will add colour to our prints through natural Eco dyed sourced locally like St John's wort and Onion skinns as well as using more exotic ones like Sapan wood... we will also look into our kitchen drawers for ingredients for this very purpose and use Turmeric.
You will get the chance to complete a number of prints you could turn into a journal on the second day if there is time and to print a Scarf to take home
If you have previous experience you will refresh quickly the basic and go further... if you are a newbee you will be going away as a total addict... This technique is creative and seriously addictive.
I would encourage you to bring with you small pieces of cloth or paper you would like to try... (maximum A3)

I will provide a sandwich/fruit lunch for both days and there will be treats with flagrant teas and coffee...
For this workshop I only take 4 participants to maximise the chance for interaction/attention.

Please check my Instagram page @bettysbeautifullife for inspiration. I regularly post some photos of good testing.
