Cycle to Dungeness, Rye, Camber Sands and Hastings, Wadhurst, Saturday, 22. June 2019

Gourmet food, sandy beaches, art, yoga and the mysterious Dungeness
The plan
Wind through the undulating Weald of Kent before descending down to Hastings for fish and chips on the beach and a visit to the Jerwood Gallery. Then over the Down, and into Rye for tea and a wander around the quaint historic lanes. We then follow a bike path all the way to the gorgeous beach and dunes at Camber Sands for a wild swim before setting off for a shower and freshen up at our campsite.
Our venue for our gourmet dinner is the Gallivant hotel. The restaurant uses good local produce including Romney Marsh lamb and freshly caught fish. The wine list has over five pages of English wines!
On Sunday, after a yoga class at the campsite indulge in a huge brunch back at the Gallivant. Then we’re back on our bikes to make our way to the bleak, other-worldly Dungeness, made famous by the filmmaker Derek Jarman. Quiet country lanes take us back to Ashford for a super quick 30min journey to St Pancras station.
The Cycling
