Creative Recycling for Textile Art, The Craft House, Friday, 18. October 2019

In this workshop embroidery artist Jessica Grady will go through a selection of her contemporary embroidery and embellishment techniques, particularly looking at how to build pattern and incorporate colour into textile art, alongside turning recycled materials and other waste products into exciting embellishments. You will create a series of mini samples demonstrating the different techniques to create a textile sketchbook of fabric samples to take away with you.
As well as traditional textile materials Jessica will show you how to incorporate and use a variety of recycled and unusual items to add texture and interest to your swatches. This is a great workshop for those who are just starting out looking at textiles art, and is also a great class to help develop and refine your techniques and processes. Techniques in the class include: mixed media sequin making, building 3D structures, layering fabrics, creative recycling, contemporary ways to use traditional stitches and freeform applique ideas. This is a great class to show you that everything and anything can be stitched onto fabric to create something beautiful!
