Creative INSET with the Whitechapel Gallery & Lansbury Lawrence School, Whitechapel Gallery, Thursday, 02. July 2020

About the Whitechapel Gallery
The gallery's history has always been the future. For over a century the Whitechapel Gallery has premiered world-class artists from modern masters such as Pablo Picasso, Jackson *******, Mark Rothko and Frida Kahlo to contemporaries such as Sophie Calle, Paul Noble, Thomas Struth, Sarah Lucas and Mark Wallinger.
With beautiful galleries, exhibitions, artist commissions, collection displays, historic archives, education resources, inspiring art courses, Cafe/Bar and Bookshop, the Gallery is open all year round, so there is always something free to see.

About Lansbury Lawrence Primary School
Lansbury Lawrence Primary School is proud of the creative curriculum that it provides for children. Last year, the school embarked on an ambitious project with architects Matt+Fiona and the Whitechapel Gallery, to create a much-needed Room for Art. Under the guidance of Matt+Fiona, children researched, planned and designed a bespoke art room that could be used by everyone in the wider community. The children’s work has been exhibited at the Whitechapel Gallery and the Canary Wharf Community Gallery and is now on display in the school entrance.
The school is now fundraising to make the Room for Art a reality.

About the INSET
This day long INSET will look at how a partnership can successfully form between a school and a cultural organisation and how this can enrich the curriculum. Kerri Sellens from Lansbury Lawrence will talk about their experience of working with the Whitechapel Gallery and the exciting and ambitious 'Room for Art' project. There will be time to explore the Whitechapel Gallery's latest exhibition and to discuss and share techniques for organising an engaging trip to a gallery or museum. The afternoon will be a hands on, exciting session, learning practical visual art skills to create a piece in response to the exhibition.
More information to follow shortly
