This practical session will explore the art of leading and conducting youth ensembles and school groups. Experience first hand different approaches to rehearsing music and learn how to bring it to performance readiness.
Patrick Bailey has conducted the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia (Music of Today), Britten Sinfonia, London Sinfonietta, ViVA, English Sinfonia, Royal Oman Symphony Orchestra and many others. Patrick taught conducting at the Royal College of Music from 2002-2008. He has led workshops and concerts for young composers for the Royal Philharmonic Society (as part of the Philharmonia’s Music of Today series) and at the Royal Academy of Music, Dartington International Summer School, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Birmingham Conservatoire and the universities of Sussex, York, Cambridge and Durham. As a creative workshop leader and composer, Patrick has led projects for BBC Concert Orchestra, BBC Proms, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Trinity-Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, Philharmonia Orchestra, English Sinfonia with young people, adults and family groups.
