Conference: Pioneer Ministry - A New Chapter, Bridge of Allan Parish Church Hall, Saturday, 26. October 2019

Pioneer Ministry is a way to seek contemporary answers to the old question - how do we genuinely spread the gospel beyond church, with the entirely unchurched?
The question is simple but answering it requires a practice-based, radical reimagining of words like ‘mission’, ‘outreach’, ‘church’, that is deeply faithful, so that the life-giving, liberating, good news of Jesus can be found among the communities of 21st Century Scotland.
This conference will be facilitated by five of the Church of Scotland Pioneers, working in five very different challenging and rewarding posts, resulting in five contrasting and innovative forms of ministry.
They will share their experience of pioneer ministry in their own cultural context and the context of the Church of Scotland. If you are thinking about or planning pioneer ministry, this conference could be vital, offering reflections on what has worked and not worked in each of their ministries and sharing the highs and lows of their experience so far.
Janet Foggie: Pioneer for the Presbytery of Stirling at the University of Stirling, will be speaking about ‘Dorcas: Sewing the Resurrection’. Janet is a smallholder, seamstress and gardener who shares faith in practice by bringing together practical skills and spiritual well-being for the student community.
Peter Gardner: Pioneer Minister for Visual Arts Communities, who is based in Glasgow’s Briggait studio complex and one half of visual artist duo Gardner & Gardner, will be reflecting on developing a spirituality around creative practice, working in the spaces between churches and creating artworks that seek to convey the mystery that is beyond words.
Stuart Davidson: Pioneer Minister who walks the streets and connects with the people of all sorts who live, work and travel though Ferguslie Park and the north end of Paisley, with the purpose of helping us all to discover the great love of Jesus.
Chris Blackshaw: Pioneer Farming Minister working amongst the isolated Agricultural Community of Ayr Presbytery. Working out of Ayr Mart and going onto farms across the Presbytery and beyond, Chris supports farmers who **** problems and offers practical help and spiritual support to people with and without faith.
Elisabeth Spence: Working in a new housing development in Bonnyrigg, Midlothian, Hopefield Connections is a project that aims to make connections, build community and share faith in a 1,200 house new housing estate.
