Climate Challenge Fund Home Energy and Community Buildings Gathering - 2019, Agile City, Wednesday, 24. July 2019

The 2019 Home Energy and Community Buildings Gathering will bring together community-led organisations from all over Scotland who are working to reduce carbon emissions in their area by reducing energy use in homes and in community buildings.
Keep Scotland Beautiful invites community-led organisations who are actively involved, or interested in, taking action on climate change in their communities to what should be an interesting and inspiring day. The event has been organised as part of our management of the Scottish Government's Climate Challenge Fund.
The Scottish Government recently lodged an amendment to the Climate Change Bill to set a legally binding target of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045. We will spend the day exploring what net zero carbon emissions means in relation to energy and the role Scotland's Comminities can play in helping us get there.
Morning session: What will a net zero carbon emissions look like in Scotland?
After hearing about what net zero will mean for Scottish households, we will hear from two community-led organisations that have been working to reduce carbon emissions relating to energy.
We will also hear from third party organsiations on the support they can provide to community-led organisations.
Networking lunch
Over an extended lunch we will take a tour of Agile’s building and find out what energy efficiency measures they have installed as part of their CCF project.
Afternoon session 1: How do we get to net zero?
We’ll be discussing what steps we need to take to get to net-zero and what role Scottish Communities can play in achieving this target.
Afternoon session 2: Shifting normal
Shifting Normal is a Scottish Government tool that was launched at the Climate Challenge Fund Gathering in 2015. The tool can be used by communities to design projects that change things for the better. We’ll be using the ‘Four Questions; Four Zones’ Framework from Shifting Normal to identify common opportunities and barriers for sustainable energy, linking in to priorities set out in the net-zero report.
