Chinese Brush Painting Lotus Flowers (Meticulous style) with Anne Allan, Calder Art, Saturday, 05. October 2019

Workshop details
This workshop is for all who have an interest in Chinese Brush Painting, both beginners and those with some experience. After quickly explaining the traditional materials, Anne will demonstrate how to paint a lotus composition in the gongbi (meticulous) style on sized paper. This style of painting developed in the Song Dynasties (960-1279 AD) and is also known as the Meticulous or Outline style due to the outline round everything. This is then filled in with ink or colour in many layers, painted to build up the form – hence the need to work meticulously.
You will each transfer the image to the paper using ink and a fineline brush and then Anne will take you step by step through the techniques ensuring that everyone will complete the composition.
Anne will give personal one-to-one assistance throughout the day.
You will work on sized xuan paper with Chinese painting colours and ink, using Chinese brushes.
