Do you dabble in marketing for your organisation but you’re not quite sure how to take it to the next level? Maybe you feel fairly comfortable using the tech on a personal level but need some support with how to maximise its effectiveness for your business. Perhaps you’d appreciate some new ideas or ways of thinking.
This highly interactive course is designed for those people who have a story to tell (but who might not be quite sure how to articulate it), objectives to meet (but they perhaps aren’t fully defined) and a product or service to promote … but who may not have the skills, knowledge or confidence to think strategically about how to do this to best effect.
With a particular focus on digital marketing, the course will look at the basics of creating a marketing plan, including: setting objectives; building your brand story, key messages and visual identity; key audiences; communication channels; planning your timeline; looking at competitors; and evaluating your activities.
It is aimed at those who are new to marketing or those in smaller organisations for whom marketing is an ‘add-on’ to your main job.
It won’t be full of jargon or techniques that require bottomless budgets. Nor will it be a technical lesson on how to use all the apps and technologies available. It will be about understanding the basics of a sound marketing strategy and a rundown of the key tactics and tools you can include. Hopefully you’ll leave inspired and armed to go away and create your own strategy to boost your business or organisation.

To understand how to move forward in creating your own marketing strategy
To describe some of the key tools in digital marketing and how they can be applied

Sarah Newman
Sarah has worked in PR and marketing for nearly 12 years, both in a communications agency and in-house at Devon Communities Together.
She has managed national and regional marcomms campaigns for a wide range of clients from large organisations such as Salvation Army Trading Company to smaller local names such as Rowe’s Cornish Bakery and Millbrook Retirement Village.
She has worked in a marketing and communications role at Devon Communities Together since December 2017.
