Building Brave - Understanding anxiety and stress in children, Genesis Enterprise and CommunityHub, Friday, 25. October 2019

This course will provide you with understanding and strategies to help manage anxiety issues and promote mental health wellbeing within your child. The course is aimed at children with special/additional needs, however the knowledge and strategies may be suitable for all children and young adults. 
We will share effective, practical information and strategies to help your child manage anxiety, discover their courage, build their resilience and thrive.

We will:
Share resources and signpost to further support
Demonstrate activities to help with preparation for change and transition.
Evaluate strategies and techniques for promoting relaxation, sensory calming and help with sleep issues.

The workshop will cover:

Understanding the effects of anxiety and stress on individuals with and without autism

Anxiety based conditions such as PDA and Selective Mutism

Key activities in helping manage anxiety and overload

Building Brave

Practical strategies for helping to prepare for change

Techniques to develop relaxation

Drawing up personalised well-being plans

What resources can school access - Anxiety Gremlins, ELSA, Nurture Groups
