2 Week Internship in Canine or Cat Care and Welfare for 16-18 year olds, DSPCA, Monday, 04. June 2018

The DSPCA are offering 10 lucky young people the chance to work in the DSPCA rehoming Kennels, Cat Rehoming Centre or the Rehabilitation Unit for 2 weeks. 
Acceptance into the Internship is dependent on an interview process.
There are limited places working with the cats or dogs and the area you are interested in will be dicsussed at your interview.

During their time they will learn:

Dog or Cat Handling
Basic Dog or Grooming
Basic Dog Training and Agility Training
Dog or Cat Care
Feeding and Nutrition for Dogs or Cats
Importance of Environmental Enrichment and Play for Dogs and Cats

This basic 2 Week Internship is open to anyone between the ages of 16 - 18 years who are interested in working with dogs or cats in the future. This Internship is free of charge and Interns will be interviewed before being accepted onto the Programme.
Applicants must be able to:

Attend each day of the Internship for the full hours of 9am to 4.30 pm
Be willing to get muddy and pick up dog or cat poo
Have a basic level of fitness (dog walking can be a strenuous activity)
The DSPCA is not on a bus route so transport will be required to and from the Shelter each day.
You will be required to complete Garda Vetting prior to starting your internship place.
